Shamiul - the hurricane

SHAMIUL! SHAMIUL! That was the chanting going in the ground and why not, Shamiul scored 223(139) not out what a flawless and merciless innings by Shamiul. Bangla Warriors players had few injuries from last week match, including the skipper Nowroz who had sit out and his deputy Ehtesam was not available to lead the team today. Mostafa, one the senior player was the stand up the captain for today’s match against Island Warriors and he was in a good mood when the total on the board was 348/5 this is was the highest total posted by Bangla Warriors.

Mostafa claimed the toss and decided to bat first, Shamiul and Zobaer started the innings well both openers gave a good start and then when the total score was 31 Zobaer nicked it to the keeper and headed back, the top order showed some resistance but wickets were falling. 96-4 Score on the board Shamiul has completed his 50 by then and Mostafa joined him in the middle they put up a good partnership of 85 runs and Mostafa headed back to the pavilion scoring 28(39) but before going back, Shamiul had completed his 1st hundred of the season and was joined in the middle by his partner in crime Nayeem. Nayeem played an excellent supporting role with Shamiul, as he realized mother nature has a different role and the jet took off. Shamiul’s 223* included (19×6)(13×4) the opponent Island Warriors had no clue how to stop Shamiul. They tried bouncers, yorkers, cutters but either those ball dispatched for six or four. He brought his 200 by square cutting the ball to the gully region for four. The umpire looked at his watch at 3:50pm umpire called of the 1st innings due to time restrictions, few us were so adamant that Shamiul could have scored 250 or more but rules are rules.

The game was called off at the end due to rain and the points were split between the two teams, Shamiul you have played an inning that we usually watch it on tv, so thank you for witnessing it live. We wish you the very best for the rest of the matches and hoping the jet that took off doesn’t come down anytime sooner.
